Exceptional communication

BACK

The Schild-newspaper puts road safety and the work of skilled workers in the spotlight and strengthens the image of the industry.

BRIEF

The development of the sign newspaper, a new type of communication medium for the Industrieverband Straßenausstattung (IVSt), which is intended to draw attention to traffic signs and the employees in road maintenance depots and construction yards.

CHALLENGE

To improve public perception and appreciation of the often overlooked traffic sign industry and to present complex industry topics in an interesting and understandable way for a wide audience.

SOLUTION

We have developed a bi-annual tabloid-style newspaper that appeals to our readership with easy-to-understand texts, attractive design and a mix of informative and entertaining content, enhancing the image of the industry.

The initial situation:
IVSt is confronted with a serious image problem: The traffic sign industry has a shadowy existence in the public eye. The work of the people who manufacture, install and maintain traffic signs on a daily basis is taken for granted and receives little attention. At the same time, there is a lack of public awareness of the immense importance of well-maintained traffic signs for the safety of all road users. As a result, the entire sector was seen as uninnovative and unattractive. In this situation, the Structural Commission of the IVSt recognised the need to take active countermeasures.

The aims of the project

We want to improve the image of the traffic sign industry by emphasising its innovative strength and the safety relevance of its products. At the same time, we want to raise awareness of road safety in the professional world by providing information about new developments and regulations. Our aim is to recognise the importance of the traffic sign industry and its employees and to further strengthen professional knowledge in the sector.

This was the result:

The result is the sign newspaper, which has established itself as ‘Europe’s largest construction yard newspaper’. It is aimed specifically at professionals in the traffic sign industry and has quickly proved to be a valuable communication tool for IVSt. The newspaper offers a balanced mix of in-depth specialist knowledge and entertaining elements. It recognises the commitment of those working in the industry, conveys technical know-how and provides information on various aspects of traffic sign production and maintenance. It covers current developments as well as fundamental safety aspects and legal framework conditions. The sign magazine has established itself as an integral part of industry communication and makes an important contribution to raising awareness of the importance of road safety.
